They come in two fabrics representing “the conscious, refined and frontal suede, and subconscious, coarse and honest leather,” according to the Boonper website. During their brief interview, he and Mr. Sarkozy discussed the relevance of Freudian theory today.

Thoreau was writing in 1854, and Pinker’s whole thesis is that things are better now, so the World Happiness Report 2016 is not a good way to suggest Thoreau was wrong.

He said it was “quiet” desperation, not “desperation you tell strangers about when they call you to ask you how happy you are.”

Believing yourself in the “top half” is consistent with the mass of men leading lives of quiet desperation.

Pretty sure Pinker never read Walden, since he can’t get through the opening chapter without going into “Well, Actually” mode.

Canadian clinical psychologist and public thinker Jordan Peterson has cast doubt on Islam's compatibility with democratic society.
"It is not clear to me that Islam would be compatible with democracy," he said in an interview with Hungarian newspaper Magyar Nemzet. "We have no evidence that it would be."
He said he'd failed to observe a "positive example of a successful, independent Muslim democracy", also invoking Muslim countries' generally weak record on freedom and corruption in international rankings.
"So there is a fundamental problem that is unfortunately not allowed to be discussed," Jordan Peterson was quoted as saying.
