Re: a future to believe in
But as Bernie’s popularity and influence grew, it seemed all he wanted to do was scale up the regime of town meetings.
“It’s like the Steve Martin movie, The Jerk,” the aide says. “He’s born in a shack. Then, when he hits it big, he builds a shack-mansion.”

So I’ve been on the fence about sharing this clip, because folks who’ve done it have been berated.

But Black and Brown people deserve to know the things Joe Biden has said, what he’s stood for, and how his policies have impacted their communities.

Some part of Sanders seems to hold out hope that something is left over in the DNA of the Democratic Party from those F.D.R. days, something that can be saved and restored. He seems to have a nostalgic fondness for it, as he seems to for Biden himself.
But this version of the Democratic Party that now has Biden as its face wants to bury him. They’ve smeared him as a racist, sexist dupe for Putin, an amateur and back-bencher who doesn’t understand power and can’t “get things done.”
By getting as far as he has, and raising as much money as he has, Sanders has already demolished half of that argument. To finish the job, he has to show he understands the difference between doing well and winning, against an opponent who pathetically, insultingly beatable. For all of the institutional obstacles before him, despite the wall of media sycophants and the waterfall of fresh Wall Street money against him, Bernie should be offended to be losing to the likes of Joe Biden. But he’s running out of time to get angry.
Dobra analiza.

An idea from progressive Catholic theology might be useful for understanding Joe Biden and why we need him: pater patitur — the father suffers.
— Virginia Heffernan (@page88) March 5, 2020
Biden, unlike Trump, doesn’t inflict suffering. But nor does he suffer “for” us.
He suffers *with* us. https://t.co/9UKMzqYecT
znači fetalna pozicija indeed:
And isn’t that what America needs right now as we fight against despair after Trump’s desecrations?
We don’t need the agitations of Bernie Sanders; we need a salve. And though this is much harder to admit, we collectively lack the fortitude and solidarity to respond to the clarion call of the peerless Elizabeth Warren, who in stronger times could have led us to a more perfect union.
As former FBI special agent and law professor Asha Rangappa put it recently, “Right now America needs some aspirin, a cup of soup and some TLC.”
And Biden knows how to administer TLC. Having lost a wife and two children, he now speaks as a forever-grieving widower and parent. He is familiar with loss in his marrow. And this is what allows him to see, with radical compassion, the facts of our country under Trump: family separations, border detention camps, ubiquitous guns, neglect of public health, the catastrophic effects of the climate crisis.
ali we don't deserve Elizabeth Warren, znači usraću se

But, essentially, there is no difference between the two parties.”

Who are the voters who will sit out the election if Bernie Sanders isn't the Democratic nominee? @stavernise tells us about one of them, a 29-year-old so mired in debt, so disappointed with his prospects, that he can't contemplate starting a family.https://t.co/e3WOXfO58a

Rep. Ro Khanna, a national campaign co-chair for Bernie Sanders, on Friday called Elizabeth Warren "an outstanding choice" to become Sanders' running mate should he capture the Democratic presidential nomination.
The California Democrat told MSNBC he would "absolutely" advise Sanders to name a woman as his vice presidential pick, and singled out the Vermont senator's colleague from Massachusetts when asked who specifically he would recommend.

Bernie has three public events just today in two different states, each speaking engagement extending for close to an hour https://t.co/6TGOhMT6z9

and tomorrow he’s joining @ThisWeekABC, @CNNSotu, @FoxNewsSunday and @MeetThePress. https://t.co/udYptlO0qN

Bernie Sanders will headline a Fox News town hall on Monday in Detroit, on the eve of the Democratic primary in the state.
This will be Sanders’ second town hall this cycle with the news outlet. Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum will moderate the event, starting at 6:30 PM ET.
Sanders’ town hall with Fox News last April drew nearly 2.6 million viewers, making it the most watched of the cycle.

They allowed Joe Biden to speak for a whole seven minutes in front of his crowd of about 500 in St Louis today. During that short time he called himself “an Obiden-Bama Democrat” pic.twitter.com/UeZHiNCmEN
