A crude remark by Boris Johnson about the French was cut from a BBC documentary following concerns over how it could impact diplomatic relations, it has been reported.
The former foreign secretary accused the French of being ‘turds’ over Brexit, with the comment due to appear in the fly-on-the-wall documentary.
But the Foreign Office asked for it to be cut, with a Whitehall memo suggesting the comment would make Anglo-French relations ‘awkward’, the Daily Mail reported.
Senior diplomats had also reportedly privately expressed concerns that it could make it harder for the UK to get a good Brexit deal.
The comment was said to have been made during filming for three-part documentary Inside the Foreign Office, which was broadcast on BBC Two in November last year.

Mislim da im se otvara prostor. Izbor Johnsona za lidera torijevaca će zaustaviti rast Brexit Party a odbijanje Corbyna da Labour podrži drugi referendum će definitivno prelomiti remainere da glasaju za LibDem-Greens. Daću smelu prognozu da ova koalicija može osvojiti najviše glasova na izborima.

Green mora sa LibDemsima. Oni imaju, mnijem, takvo glasacko telo da mogu da im objasne da je to samo sada i zbog Brexita. A sto se tice Labour, mislim da je prosao voz da se ukrcaju na remain voz. Sad je mozda bolje da ostanu pri ovoj prici, jer ono sto bi izgubili na severu to bi direkt pokupila Brexit party, ili Cons. London i delovi Juga ima da se zanarandzaste na izborima kao nikad.

The former Conservative minister Ann Widdecombe has likened the UK’s departure from the EU to the emancipation of slaves, as she became the first Brexit party MEP to speak in the new European parliament.
With her leader, Nigel Farage, on her right, Widdecombe said the recent negotiations among the EU’s heads of state and government over the leadership of the bloc’s institutions confirmed the need for Britain to leave.
“It’s not democratic at all and that is just one of many reasons why Britain is right to be leaving this place, hopefully on Halloween,” Widdecombe told a plenary session of the European parliament in Strasbourg. “If that’s this place’s idea of democracy that’s a serious betrayal of every country represented here.”
Widdecombe, who was criticised this month for claiming science might “produce an answer” to being gay, said the UK’s departure from the EU equated to a liberation.
She said: “There is a pattern consistent throughout history of oppressed people turning on their oppressors, slaves against their owners, the peasantry against the feudal barons, colonies against empires, and that is why Britain is leaving … It doesn’t matter which language you use, we are leaving and we are pleased to be going. Nous allons, wir gehen, we are off!”
The Brexit party’s MEP for the South East, Alexandra Phillips, tweeted: “Tears in my eyes. She represents the ignored majority. Brave and principled. Our Ann.”

Boris Johnson was excluded from sensitive briefings by spy chiefs while he was foreign secretary, as they feared he would accidentally leak private information, according to the Sun.
The paper reported Thursday that the order to cut him out came directly from Prime Minister Theresa May.
Security chiefs briefed the PM alone at "pre-meetings" before key discussion forums, according to the paper, and at times when sensitive intelligence files were presented to Johnson, briefers attempted to keep the information "vague and undetailed," the paper reported.
A spokesman for Johnson denied the story, saying: “Boris wasn’t cut out of anything.”
