i would like to talk here about The Last of Us on HBO... and yeah, yeah i know.. the world is burning but lets just all sit and talk about television. again - what else are we doing with ourselves ? we are not creating any militias. but my god we still have the content. appraising content is the american modus vivendi.. that's why we are here for. to absorb the content and then render some sort of a judgment on content. because there is a buried hope that if enough people have the right opinion about the content - the content will get better which will then flow to our structures and make the world a better place

Ikonoklazam, cak i ovakav, je uvek znak (daljeg) mentalnog razlaza sa Evropom. U Vizantiji, u Engleskoj, u US, bilo gde. Rekao bih da prorestantska tradicija kod njih radi u "obe" Amerike. Negde vidljivo, negde na meta nivou.

pa nije bas bio abolicionista. na prvim izborima gde je mogao da glasa za abolicionistu, odlucio je da glasa za juznog demokratu Bjukenona i kao razlog je naveo da bi ekstremni republikanac doveo do sececije na jugu. 1860te nije glasao, jer nije dovoljno dugo ziveo u Ilinoisu da moze da glasa, ali iz pisama i memoara se vidi da je podrzavao Daglasa umesto Linkolna.Vasa Čokrljan wrote:a šta im je Grant skrivio?

Nema nikakvih naznaka da je imao simpatije za Dzona Brauna, koji mu je i neki rodjak dalji, rekao je samo da je ludak (sto je tacno jes bio ludak).
Imao je u zivotu ravno jednog roba, kojeg mu je dao tast (Grant se bio prizetio tokom jedne od tih faza kad nije pio), i istina stvarno ga je oslobodio izgleda iz moralnih razloga.
Posle rata, tokom rekonstrukcije bio stvarno najbolji predsednik za crnce sve do LBJa, raskurcao klan ko zvecku.
Ne treba rusiti statuu naravno.

svi volimo servantesa i sve ali da se ne pravimo da nema razloga za kenselovanje. kanon je po definiciji opresivan i elitisticki a znamo koje je servantesovo mesto u istoriji zapadne civilizacije. sem toga treman mentalnih hendikepa u don kihotu je problematican, moguce i ableistican.

The people guarding the Eliot statue in Nuneaton were presumably operating on the assumption that Black Lives Matter protestors despise all statues as much as they hate police brutality.

George Eliot, the pen name of Mary Ann Evans, was one of the Victorian era’s great writers and a supporter of the anti-slavery movement. She had a long, epistolary friendship with Harriet Beecher Stowe and questioned the morality of slavery in her 1862 novel Romola.
Protestors, of course, had no interest in toppling a statue of a Brit who may very well have been down for the cause today.
I guess maybe if enough sculpture defenders form a tight, protective ring around Eliot for long enough, they could protect her from wind erosion? True allies.
