The DEA said it is aware of reports that some assassins yelled "DEA" at the time of their attack. The DEA said in its statement that none of the attackers were operating on behalf of the agency.

SAD će dozvoliti završetak Severnog toka 2 bez sankcija Rusiji i Nemačkoj

Vašington i Berlin su postigli načelni sporazum oko kontroverznog gasovoda Severni tok 2, prema kojem će SAD dozvoliti završetak tog projekta bez uvođenja novih sankcija Nemačkoj i Rusiji.

Prema rečima pomoćnika članova američkog Kongresa, upoznatih sa nacrtom sporazuma, SAD i Nemačka će zauzvrat načiniti određene ustupke Ukrajini i Poljskoj koje se oštro protive gasovodu, ali trenutno nije jasno da li bi se Kijev i Varšava složili sa tim.

Prema američko-nemačkom sporazumu, Ukrajina bi dobila 50 miliona dolara kredita za tehnologije zasnovane na zelenoj energiji, garanciju o nadoknadi novca za tranzitne takse za gas, koje će izgubiti zbog novog gasovoda, do 2024. godine, i obećanje i Berlina i Vašingtona da će sankcije biti ponovo razmotrene ako Rusija bude koristila gas kao političko oružje, naveli su pomoćnici članova Kongresa.

Kad je reč o ustupcima Poljskoj, Nemačka bi pristala da bude deo takozvane „Inicijative tri mora“, čiji je cilj jačanje investicija, infrastrukturnog razvoja i energetske bezbednosti medju državama koje izlaze na Baltičko, Crno i Jadransko more.

Stejt department je juče saopštio da će visoko pozicionirani američki diplomata posetiti ove nedelje i Poljsku i Ukrajinu, delom i zbog razgovora o gasovodu Severni tok 2 za koje se očekuje da budu napeti.

SAD su se dugo protivile tom projektu zahvaljujući kojem će ruski prirodni gas stizati do Nemačke i pokušavale da spreče njegovu realizaciju.

Vašington je tvrdio da će gasovod ugroziti energetsku bezbednost Evrope jer će povećati zavisnost kontinenta od ruskog gasa i omogućiti Moskvi da poveća politički pritisak na Poljsku i Ukrajinu.

Međutim, izgradnja gasovoda je sada blizu kraja, a SAD su odlučne da ojačaju i obnove veze sa Nemačkom, narušene za vreme Bajdenovog prethodnika Donalda Trampa.

Severni tok 2 je ove godine izvesno vreme bio predmet intenzivne debate američkih i nemačkih zvaničnika, i glavna tema prošlonedeljnog sastanka predsednika SAD Džozefa Bajdena i nemačke kancelarke Angele Merkel u Beloj kući.

Merkel podržava projekat, a Bajden je ukazao da bi kažnjavanje Nemačke zbog te podrške bilo kontraproduktivno za šire američke interese.

Uprkos tome, i Bajednova administracija smatra gasovod pretnjom energetskoj bezbednosti Evrope i uvela je sankcije nekim entitetima uključenim u njegovu izgradnju.

The leaked database at the heart of the Pegasus project includes the mobile phone numbers of the French president, Emmanuel Macron, and 13 other heads of state and heads of government, the Guardian can reveal.

The appearance of a number on the leaked list – which includes numbers selected by governments that are clients of NSO Group, the Israeli spyware firm – does not mean it was subject to an attempted or successful hack. NSO insists the database has “no relevance” to the company.

NSO said Macron was not a “target” of any of its customers, meaning the company denies he was selected for surveillance using Pegasus, its spyware. The company added that the fact that a number appeared on the list was in no way indicative of whether that number was selected for surveillance using Pegasus.

Emmanuel Macron, the French president, who appears to have been selected as a person of interest by Morocco in 2019. An Élysée official said: “If this is proven, it is clearly very serious. All light will be shed on these media revelations.”

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the World Health Organization’s director general, who also appears to have been of interest to Morocco in 2019.

Saad Hariri, who resigned as prime minister of Lebanon last week and appears to have been selected by the UAE in 2018 and 2019.

Charles Michel, the president of the European Council, who appears to have been chosen as a person of interest by Morocco in 2019, when he was prime minister of Belgium.

King Mohammed VI of Morocco, who was selected as a person of interest in 2019, apparently by security forces in his own country.

Saadeddine Othmani, Morocco’s prime minister, who was also selected as a person of interest in 2018 and 2019, again possibly by elements within his own country.

Imran Khan, the prime minister of Pakistan, who was selected as a person of interest by India in 2019.

Felipe Calderón of Mexico, the former president. His number was selected in 2016 and 2017 by what is believed to have been a Mexican client during a period when his wife, Margarita Zavala was running for the country’s top political job.

Robert Malley, a longtime American diplomat who was chief negotiator on the US-Iran deal, and who appears to have been selected as a person of interest by Morocco in 2019. NSO has said its government clients are prevented from deploying its software against US numbers because it has been made “technically impossible”.

Bolivia’s recent interim government came to power by sidestepping constitutional rules for presidential succession and persecuted opponents with “systematic torture” and “summary executions” by security forces in the tumultuous aftermath of Evo Morales’s resignation in 2019, according to a new report by independent human rights experts.

The scathing 471-page report is the most comprehensive yet to examine the events surrounding the disputed 2019 presidential vote, when Morales’s narrow election to an unprecedented fourth term triggered widespread protests spurred by strong international allegations of voting fraud – claims later questioned by foreign electoral experts.

The report, presented Tuesday in La Paz in an event attended by the new president, Luís Arce, was commissioned by the Organization of American States (OAS) review chief human rights watchdog under an agreement with the former interim government led by Jeanine Áñez.
