yorubaland poznaje 2 olatunji-ja: mladji u je babatunde olatunji (1927) koji je zapravo popularniji izvan nigerije i nekakav preteca world music zanra; on se 1950-ih odselio u ameriku i postao popularizator yoruba bubnjeva (to zvuci onako, ja nisam nesto odusevljen), a drugi je yusufu olatunji (1909), jedno 2-3 najvecih imena sakara zanra u nigeriji.

yusufu olatunji - aka baba legba kako su ga od miloste zvali - je inace izdao blizu 50 LP albuma do svoje smrti 1978. nemam nikakvu statistiku ispred sebe no to je npr. cifra koja je potpuno nezamisliva za hause severnjake (ja mislim da kad saberes sva hausa praise singing LP albumska izdanja od 1950-ih do 1978 da ih nema toliko). samo mala ilustracija u koliko su boljoj poziciji jorube: poznati hausa praise singer dan maraya jos je - kada mu je polydor izdao prvi LP sredinom 1980-ih - od srece poslednju pesmu na albumu posvetio polydor kompaniji (lik je bukvalno praise singovao jebenu multinacionalnu korporaciju), a ovi se u lagosu se maltene se izivljavali sa viniliom (pazite ove bogate discogs profile yusufu olatunji-a i ayinde barrister-a). ovo ispod je A strana vol. 24 pod nazivom "Oba Oluwa Loni Dede"

Jimoh Ishola alias Ejigbadero - infamous entrepreneur & real estate mogul
He founded Jimsol Nigeria Ltd, a nail manufacturing company. He was also a land speculator, an Omo-onile. Active in the 1960s & 1970s, he was popular with Lagos Mainland's high society. Details of his origin are unknown outside of his extended family, but he was probably born & raised in Oja-Oba, Ibadan. He was apprenticed to his uncle in Lagos sometime in the 1950s & eventually founded Jimsol Nigeria Ltd, a nail manufacturing company.
In the early 60s, Jimoh entered the real estate market as a land speculator. As a serial land grabber, he would try to purchase private or communal land for kobos on the Naira & when his offers were turned down, he used his private army of miscreants to intimidate landowners. One of the cases that brought him into notoriety was when he sold an uncompleted building in Agege to one R.G. Okuwobi in 1962 & then later sold the same building to another party.
In 1975, Jimoh went to clear some communal farmland in Alimosho (then just a village) he had earlier grabbed in 1970. He met stiff resistance from the occupants led by one Raji Oba, who reported his constant harassment to the police at Agege. On one occasion, Jimoh led a group of armed men to the farmland, they were again met by Raji Oba & other residents of the village, in the heat of the argument, Jimoh stabbed Raji near the eyebrow only wounding him.
On August 22nd, 1975, Jimoh saw an opportunity, his wife had just given birth & he was throwing a party to celebrate it. He had invited several socialites to the ceremony. Earlier during the day, he visited Alimosho with his boys where they shot & killed Raji Oba, the murder was witnessed by Raji's wife Sabitu & her neighbor Nimota Kelani. Jimoh allegedly returned to his party & used the occasion as an alibi. Jimoh was arrested the same day after a mob stormed Agege Police Station. He could've gotten away with the murder, however, it ignited a popular revolt against landgrabbers & rich people in Lagos mainland especially - Mushin, Agege-Alimosho areas.
Jimoh's influential friends deserted him & he was tried for 3 years, On Thursday, October 26, 1978, a panel of the Supreme Court comprising My Lords: Alexander, Fatai-Williams, Irikefe, Bello, and Idigbe affirmed his conviction and dismissed his appeal. In 1979, four years after the gruesome murder of Raji Oba, Jimoh Ishola, alias Ejigbadero, was hanged.

od svih lead instrument kombinacija koje postoje u hausa praise singing-u, moram reci da su mi zicani instrumenti - gurmi i molo - najmanje muzicki interesantni, sto je verovatno razumljivo. musa gumel je ovde podrzan sa kalangu orkestrom pa je to jotu interesantnije (a i pomalo zvuci kao ali makaho 3 puta ubrzano 
). musa gumel je obviously iz gumela (jigawa state, nigerija) ali ovaj tribal jamboree fazon - i uopste gurmi i molo - je popularniji u nigeru nego u nigeriji.

ali makaho svira gurmi - zicani instrument - uz vrlo rudimentarnu pratnju kalangu bubnjeva (neki kalangu redux od jednog ili dva bubnja). u pitanju je zinder provincija (jugoistok nigera). pored harune uji-a, ali makaho je verovatno najpoznatiji hausa praise singer koji svira gurmi. google je potpuno nem na pretragu imena osobe koja se praise singuje (uwar dan indo) ali imamo izvesnih hintova u koment sekciji jer tamo neko kaze 'the amount of insults in this song' tako da je moguce da je rec o tzv zambo podzanru (character assassination songs).
svirka je izuzetno prosta, ali vrlo intenzivna - ekstaticni trance jamboree koji se konstantno buildup-uje... u nekom momentu na 11:42 upadne neki ISIS radio program za decu, ali samo na 30 sekundi. pored glasa ali makaha tu je i njegov sekundant (uvek zaboravim kako se na hausa jeziku zove institucija ovih likova sto kenjaju u ril tajmu pored glavnog praise singera ali njihova je funkcija bukvalno meta-komentarisanja samog nastupa i u sustini sugerisanja publici sta da misle o samom praise singer-u; pa tu cesto i praiseovanja samog praise singer-a)

joooj nasao sam ovaj vrlo rani rendition moje omiljene pesme od mamman shate (mislim da su rane 1980-te, mozda cak i 1970-te). u vreme kada su hausa praise singeri skoro pa obligatorno spevali epopeje iskuljicivo o emirima i generalima, mamman shata poetski uzdize vestine vozaca umaru dandua, sina dandune iz gwandua - neku teeesku sirotilju iz kebbi provincije - i ujedno reklamira njegove usluge u pesmi. kakav apsolutno neponovljiv car
